A FUNDRAISING night in memory of a cyclist who was killed in Greenwich last year raised around £800.
A Tina Turner-themed party was held at the Lord Hood pub on Friday for retired care worker Stella Chandler of East Greenwich.
Stella died aged 67 on December 7 2009 when she was knocked off her bicycle at the junction between Vanbrugh Hill and Woolwich Road.
The money raised on the night will go towards the London Air Ambulance, which airlifted her to hospital, and her favourite charity, Greenwich & Bexley Cottage Hospice.
Her friend Jacqui said: "The night was one Stella would have loved. The main theme was shoes and fashion as she was a real fashionista.
"She kept so fit through cycling and had lovely legs and the body of someone in her early 40s. She was full of life and never thought of herself, always others.
"Even when she had retired, she still visited her patients to check up on them. She was very free spirited and would go out every weekend to the working men's clubs around Greenwich with her partner."
During the night, a disco was held as well as a raffle and an auction with shoes as prizes.
Stella loved rock music, especially Tina Turner, according to Jacqui, who was friends with her for 20 years.
She had a partner of 20 years, Ken, and two sons and two grandchildren.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing and an inquest is expected to be held in July.
